Today, I have a question for you, in all the things you would like to achieve in your life, how fast do you want to go?
You will agree with me that to travel to different places, we will need to choose a suitable means of transport depending on the reason for the trip and how fast we need to get there.
For example, if you would like to enjoy some Mediterranean breeze, then getting on a cruise is the best option because you want to enjoy the breeze and speed is not really a priority here.
In the journey of chasing your dreams and greatness, how fast do you want to go? Let’s look at the options we normally use for different purposes.
Let us review the options:
Walk
Let’s say you are bored and need to talk to somebody and that somebody happens to be a neighbour.
All you will need to do is to put on some clothes, a slipper or sometimes barefooted, lock your door, depending on which country you live in, and off you go!
It is as simple as that, no lengthy preparations whatsoever.
Drive
However, if you need to visit your parents, friends or family in another city, driving is probably a better option.
It’s requires a little bit more preparation. You check that your car is still taxed and has valid insurance. You check the oil and fuel gauge, and ensure that no warning signals are showing on the dashboard. You may want to check your fuel level and the tyres as well.
Next, you will probably need to contact the person you are visiting to make sure it is ok for you to visit at the time you propose. You will also need to check if you still have a valid address for them to help you plan the journey and off you go…
Fly
You decide that you have had enough of your current location for now and would like to visit other continents. In this case, the fastest and most suitable way will be to fly.
You will need to do all the checks for when you are driving to the next city and even more.
Now you need to check that you still have a valid passport and visa if applicable to visit the country. In most cases you would need some form of immunisation or health certificates to be allowed into the country. Then you make arrangements for your ticket and ensure that you arrive at the airport on time.
When you get to the airport, the job of flying the air craft is for the Pilots. Here are just a summary of the set checks the pilot must complete before, during and after the flight.
The pilots and the co-pilots must do the following:
Check the overall condition of the aircraft before and after every flight
Ensure that the aircraft is balanced and below its weight limit
Ensure fuel supply is adequate, weather conditions are acceptable, and submit flight plans to air traffic control.
Communicate with air traffic control over the aircraft’s radio system
Operate and control aircraft along planned routes, and during take-offs, and landings
Monitor engines, fuel consumption, and other aircraft systems during flight and respond to any changes in weather or other events, such as engine failure
Navigate the aircraft by using cockpit instruments and visual references
Pilots plan their flights carefully by ensuring that the aircraft is operable and safe, and that the weather conditions are acceptable.
You can clearly see the hundreds of checks required to get an aeroplane to travel thousands of miles in just a few hours.
How fast do you want to go?
So I ask again, how fast do you want to go? How quickly do you want to get to your dreams?
The problem most of us have is that we are trying to get to greatness and success and achieve super high performance with very little preparation. It is madness to prepare for a walk and then expect to fly.
If you dream of getting to your success, greatness and outstanding performance, the key is in the preparation. The aeroplanes are expected to fly at some hundreds of kilometres per hour, so there are hundreds of checks to ensure that this is achieved.
Decide to do more checks, not
